Yin & Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation
Yin yoga is a calm, slow, and patient practice. Most poses in Yin are executed while seated and could be held for up to two minutes. Yin yoga is suited for beginners and all levels up through advanced. Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation. Yoga Nidra (YN) guided meditation has ancient roots. Each session progresses through 5 to 7 stages utilized in most YN traditions worldwide, and is approximately 40 minutes in duration. The content of each is a unique creation of the Lotus Pond teacher guiding the practice. YN utilizes initial stages to induce the most profound state of relaxation, a calm mind, and sense of mind-body wholeness before leading the student on a “journey” and return. In the practice, many students enter into “conscious sleep” and a Delta brain-wave state while maintaining an active connection to the voice of the teacher/guide. Students may experience a state of oceanic awareness, disidentification with an understanding of themselves using default qualities while expanding consciousness into glimpses of their identity as their Highest Self, Soul, Divinity. YN experiences will vary over time from an inspired state of bliss, to gaining personal and spiritual insights, to the deepest state of rest ever experienced over a 40 minute period.

Yin
The practice of assuming a series of yoga postures for overall health, and long- term comfort in the body dates back 5,000 years. Yin yoga postures, as were the original yoga postures, are almost exclusively performed while seated or reclined on your mat. Yin yoga is a calm, slow, patient practice, providing an excellent opportunity, in each pose, to slow busy mind, expand awareness, achieve better mind-body integration, skillfully practice ancient breathing techniques, develop skills in body awareness, and mindfully release voluntary tension. Rather than your yoga practice primarily effecting muscle, the norm for other forms of yoga and exercise, Yin targets ligaments, tendons, and fascia, as these plastic-like connective tissues are most responsible for long-term range/fluidity of movement, flexibility and balance. Yin does so by inviting students to hold Yin poses, in stillness, for, usually, 2 to 5 minutes. By targeting our plastic-like connective tissues, because they attach bone to bone, and muscle to bone, Yin also provides considerable benefit to achieving and maintaining optimal bone health. Yin is a much-needed and ideal complement to any other form of yoga or exercise. Yin encourages students to safely enter and hold each Yin pose at their unique “edge” between mere discomfort, and more intense sensation. For this reason, Yin is perfectly suited for beginners, up through long-term yoga practitioners.

Restorative
During a restorative yoga practice, practitioners typically use props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks, and straps to support their body in various poses. These props help create a safe and comfortable environment where the body can completely relax and let go. The poses are often held for severarl minutes, allowing the body to fully surrender and release deeply held tension. The focus of restorative yoga is on slowing down, finding stillness, and reconnecting with the breath. It promotes a state of deep relaxation, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, leading to a decrease in stress hormones and an increase in feelings of calmness and well-being. Restorative yoga can be particularly beneficial for individuals recovering from injuries, dealing with chronic pain, experiencing high levels of stress, or simply seeking a nurturing and soothing practice.
